Senior Enterprise Systems Engineer

Our client is experiencing tremendous growth and needs additional support of their Enterprise Systems operations team. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems, responsible for successful implementation, and system availability. The Enterprise Systems group is responsible for the physical and virtual server environment, storage, and 3rd-tier OS support for systems deployed at company locations world-wide. This role is responsible for the development of the overall vision to solve a given business or technology problem, and to transform that vision through execution into the solution. This is a permanent hire opportunity.

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • Experience within several disciplines such as server infrastructure, virtualization, cloud services, networking, security, and storage
  • Hands on experience with Linux and/or Citrix
  • Three (3) years of experience implementing and managing enterprise-class storage arrays, replication technologies, and associated connectivity

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert and apply hands-on experience in multiple industries, large complex environments, and across several disciplines such as server infrastructure, virtualization, cloud services, networking, security, and storage
  • Use creative problem solving, flexibility, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills to evaluate, advocate, and develop solutions and enhancements that result in product and/or process improvements
  • Leverage the capabilities of new and existing technologies in innovative ways to meet customer and organizational expectations
  • Collaborate with team members and other technical teams to ensure high quality technology implementations are done in accordance with the design and defined technical standards
  • Design, build, and implement virtualization, storage, and operating system technologies to meet the needs of the business while adhering to established standards
  • Stay current with relevant advances in technologies, processes, methodologies, and industry trends in order to make recommendations in the appropriate areas
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and training of standards for the organization
  • Train and mentor staff to use and implement the latest policies, procedures, and best practices to accomplish tasks
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex infrastructure problems for end users and support personnel
  • Conduct root-cause analysis, recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and adhere to company security policies

Experience:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science, computer information systems or related field of study and five (5) years of systems engineer experience within the last seven (7) years , OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of enterprise systems engineer experience within the last ten (10) years
  • Experience within several disciplines such as server infrastructure, virtualization, cloud services, networking, security, and storage
  • Three (3) years of experience with Hypervisor Virtualization such as VMware ESXi or Microsoft HyperV to include experience building a virtual infrastructure
  • Three (3) years of experience implementing and managing enterprise-class storage arrays, replication technologies, and associated connectivity
  • Demonstrated success with coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with current Linux or Microsoft server technologies
  • Experience configuring server operating system security
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting ability
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with proven ability to work alone and collaborate with project teams to meet customer expectations
  • Strong customer service orientation and a strong desire to be a part of a team that contributes to the goals of the company
  • Proven experience mentoring other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult / complex issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as listening, decision making, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret mathematical and statistical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, and regression
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Availability to be on call 24/7 as part of a rotating schedule
