Our client is a large higher education institution who seeks an IT Services Project Manager.  This Project Manager is accountable for: developing and executing large projects or programs that are very complex supporting the academic and administrative business requirements.  The type of projects include, but are not limited to, software application implementation, new hardware and infrastructure implementations/installations, process re-engineering, implementation of continuous improvements, and complex service order fulfillment.  PM optimizes the utilization of staff resources to achieve the business objectives of the project within the schedule and budget; and leads the project team through the IT Service Project Management processes (initiation, definition and planning, execution, monitoring and control and close) utilizing the prescribed tools and templates. This is a one year contract with potential for renewal. There is also potential for hire upon completion of the contract.

The following are high level requirements for the role:

  • Six or more years of project management experience utilizing a formal project management methodology
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient in project scheduling using Microsoft Project

Responsibilities:

  • The Project Manager is a member of the PMO, and is responsible for planning and tracking large complex projects and/or programs supporting the academic and administrative business requirements of the university.
  • The individual provides leadership to the project team, to achieve the business objectives of the project within the established schedule and budget.
  • The individual follows the PMO project management framework throughout the project lifecycle, for planning, tracking, and performing status reporting.

Experience:

  • Six or more years of project management experience utilizing a formal project management methodology
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient in project scheduling using Microsoft Project
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously

Desired Skills:

  • Experience using a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology
  • Experience with a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool such as CA PPM
  • Experience in performing project management process improvements
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Authors and executes large projects or programs that are very complex
