Network Support Technician

Our client is a manufacturing company expanding their operations significantly through merger and acquisition activity. Currently our client is in need of an ERP Systems Analyst to support their growing operation. 

Under the Supervisor of the corporate Director of Information Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for continuous deployment and improvement of ERP/CRM projects; design, standardized ERP/CRM process as well as overseeing the level 2/3 support for the difficult ERP issues.

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • 3+ years of experience with Active Directory, Exchange
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience with Networking including routers, switches, and firewalls

Responsibilities:

  • Install, support, operate and maintain the network infrastructure including
    network routers, switches, VPN & ASA support, wireless networking, network monitoring usage, performance and reporting, monitoring;
  • Procure hardware, software and systems as required for break/fix and new requests
  • Replace/upgrade PC’s , servers, communications technologies
  • Systems administration including backup, security management, user account management, email systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems, CAD and applications support
  • Support the rollout of hardware and software on the servers and user workstations
  • Set up workstations, peripherals as required
  • Support integration to other networked systems for tier-1 troubleshooting (payroll clocks, PLC network on the shop floor)
  • Utilize the company Help Desk system for tracking and recording trouble tickets and change management requests - escalate if necessary
  • Participate as a team member of the Information Systems Support staff to provide hardware, software and network support .
  • Follow the corporate IT Policy and maintain localized supporting documentation for the Network systems.
  • Proactively monitor automated alerts and respond with timely resolution to Network deficiencies .
  • Maintain current knowledge of recent advances in communications and network technology and maintain technical expertise to optimize productivity, performance, services and cost effectiveness in order to support the strategic direction of the company;
  • Provide on-call service (usually occasionally site visits but mainly remote) on weekends to assist with the operation of hardware and network equipment and systems;
  • Must maintain a professional style of interpersonal skills, dealing with clients one on one;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.- including an occasional backup support for another company division

Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of PC’s, Laptops, tablets, barcode technologies, Windows servers, IIS and desktop products
  • Must have working knowledge and experience of desktop PC’s, Printers, Barcode systems, Server hardware Switches, Virus shielding systems, LAN, WAN ,Wireless networking and ISP Connectivity
  • Demonstrated experience of system failover capabilities, authentication protocols, data storage setup and redundancy, firewalls, VPN technologies;
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Networking, Information Technology or related discipline with 2 to 5 years of experience in the use, setup and support of PC’s, Peripherals, an enterprise WAN, LAN and network infrastructure;
  • Must have experience in the design, install, setup, maintain and support expertise in routing and switching skills, TCP/IP protocols and aspects of networking
  • Proficient with routing protocols,, network performance and testing tools is preferred;
  • Must have solid technical, analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
  • Must have outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills and demonstrated ability to deal effectively with clients;
  • Liaison to Network consultants for difficult projects
  • Possess project management, communication and some degree of presentation skills
  • Must enjoy working in a manufacturing environment and being able to work alone or as part of a team to provide network design and implementation support;
  • Must be highly motivated and eager to work and collaborate on new solutions or innovative opportunities
