Business Relationship Manager

Our client is a long standing, Michigan based manufacturer with an industry leading product line sold worldwide.  The company manufactures their own production equipment and raw materials used in the manufacturing process.  The Information Technology (IT) Business Relationship Manager (BRM) develops a solid understanding of corporate and production business functions to evaluate projects, determine return on investment and make recommendations to ensure that appropriate technology or services are developed to meet the Company’s needs. As an advocate, the IT BRM ensures that IT is working on those things that are most important to their business peers and will primarily support the area of Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM).

The following are high level requirements for the role:

  • Associate\'s degree or higher with an emphasis in business management, computer science or related field of study and four (4) years of experience working as a Business Relationship Manager or performing similar job responsibilities
  • Four (4) years of experience working in a manufacturing company
  • Four (4) years of experience working in supply chain including production planning, warehouse management, plant maintenance, logistics, or distribution

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an advocate to support or promote  business peers\' interests
  • Liaise with business peers and IT staff to assist in resolving problems with processes and the associated solutions and software systems
  • Manage requests from business peers for enhancements and system changes while ensuring IT is providing consultation to their requirements and aligning priorities
  • Meet with decision-makers, system/infrastructure owners and end users to define business, financial, and operation requirements and systems goals
  • Perform analysis of business or technology requirements and processes
  • Translate conceptual requirements into functional requirements
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and systems to develop strategies for improving or further leveraging technology solutions to meet business goals
  • Participate in the evaluation of vendor software targeted for possible integration into the systems or environment, including strategic applications, tools, and utilities
  • Participate in cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise by providing instruction and training to users on processes and system tools to perform their jobs
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and adhere to company security policies
  • Collaborate with project managers and project sponsors to continually align the project with business objectives
  • Provide strategic consultation to assigned business customers to define or design business processes
  • Research, identify and internally market enabling technologies based on customer requirements

Experience:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience working as a Business Relationship Manager or performing similar job responsibilities
    • Associate\'s degree with an emphasis in business management, computer science or related field of study and four (4) years of experience working as a Business Relationship Manager or performing similar job responsibilities
  • Four (4) years of related experience in business administration/management or  IT
  • Four (4) years of experience working in a manufacturing company
  • Four (4) years of experience working in supply chain including production planning, warehouse management, plant maintenance, logistics, or distribution
  • Solid understanding of SCM processes including warehouse management, production planning, production execution, distribution, logistics and plant maintenance
  • SAP experience in the Warehouse Management (WM) and Production Planning, Execution (PPE), Logistics Execution (LE) modules
  • Cross functional familiarity of multiple SCM processes
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • Ability to effectively present to an audience
  • Experience in customer and business facing roles
  • Ability to connect the people, process and technologies required to deliver business solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with IT and business teams working at remote locations
  • Familiarity with project and program management planning, strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment through the use of return on investment and net present value analysis
  • Ability to think strategically and see how parts interact with the big picture
  • Additional work hours including weekends and holidays as required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and/or internationally
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Availability to be on call 24/7
