Associate IT Facilities Engineer

The Associate IT Facilities Engineer participates in the evaluation, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure initiatives including network, voice drops, racks, power, battery, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), cabling, wiring, space and cooling and the pathways to facilitate the placement of communication, connectivity, and security systems in all IT Infrastructure Facilities.  The Associate IT Facilities Engineer helps ensure standards and guidelines are followed for all IT systems in Data Centers and Communication Rooms.  This position will participate in tests of emergency, disaster, and reliability procedures, as required.

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • Experience with Project Management, overseeing installations and following standards/codes
  • Experience designing and installing communications infrastructure
  • Cabling, wiring and power distribution experience


  • Plan, oversee, and monitor aspects of facilities installation and maintenance related to IT Infrastructure
  • Manage vendor relationships and determine work acceptance
  • Consult with the IT staff to coordinate Infrastructure systems capabilities and requirements
  • Assist with planning for various Infrastructure department projects
  • May participate in First Responder team as necessary for emergency events
  • Liaise with the Facilities Engineering department and contractors for the company’s IT facilities maintenance, equipment failure resolution, and special project implementation
  • Ensure Infrastructure support systems are appropriately maintained, operating efficiently, and sized appropriately for their purpose
  • Coordinate between design/shop drawing and site related to facilities and IT support equipment
  • Participate in developing communications design documents, statement of work, and project recommendations
  • Adhere to company software licensing policies and practices


  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree, OR
    • Associate's degree and two (2) years of experience in IT Infrastructure, OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in IT Infrastructure
  • Experience maintaining communications infrastructure including installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Ability to conduct research across a wide range of Infrastructure issues
  • Ability to understand problems, contribute to the development of multiple solutions, and assist with evaluating options for best results
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Solid organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail in documentation
  • Ability to work beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge and technology
  • Telecommunications or networking certification, preferred
