Project Management Supervisor

Our client is looking for a Project Management Supervisor to apply hands on leadership to supervise and direct the work of technical staff to accomplish engineering projects.

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • Ability to manage the coordination and overall integration of multiple engineering projects
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • 2+ years of directly managing Project Management staff

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the coordination and overall integration of multiple engineering projects
  • Provide direction, technical expertise, and support resources
  • Consult or negotiate with company and external customers regarding project specifications, resources, timelines, costs, and other relevant information
  • Collaborate with and persuade several diverse team members and stakeholders, including the executive team
  • Review and approve project requests, reports, and purchase order requisitions
  • Assign staff to projects and tasks according to their skills and abilities
  • Lead problem solving efforts in collaboration with cross function teams across the company
  • Provide training on project management methodologies and software
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Maintain continuous alignment of project scope with defined strategic business objectives
  • Monitor progress of projects, identify problems impeding progress, and participate in their resolution
  • Proactively recommend actions to move project through technical hurdles
  • Develop and disseminate communications relating to the project
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Provide reports, updates and feedback to management
  • Identify, propose, and implement changes to project management processes and methodologies
  • Research and implement cost savings opportunities for the company and external customer
  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions
  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Mentor staff
  • Supervise and direct the work of others
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies, and assignment of breaks, lunches, and other relief periods
  • Make overtime, hiring, firing, and pay adjustment recommendations

Experience:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering, business, or a related technical field of study and six (6) years of project management experience
    • Associate's degree and twelve (12) years of project management experience
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated technical leadership
  • Successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project
  • Ability to use and train on use of project management methodologies and software
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and manage large, complex projects, deadlines, tasks, and teams
  • Ability to understand and apply financial analysis
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestic and international
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • PMP Certification
    • Knowledge of Stage-Gate process and portfolio management
